Battle for bragging rights in Dance Central 2. (Credit: Microsoft)Microsoft will be releasing new Kinect for Xbox 360 titles over the next few weeks, some of which are sequels to popular titles such as Dance Central, Forza Motorsport and Kinect Sports. If your pockets are not deep enough to bring your children to "the happiest place on earth", you might want to try the kid-friendly Kinect: Disneyland Adventures. Besides interacting with the usual Disney characters like Mickey and Minnie, you can also fly like Peter Pan through Neverland and engage Captain Hook in a swashbuckling duel.Dance Central 2 will be first to market and will hit stores next Friday. It has the latest songs by Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars and Daft Punk, as well as "classics" from Sir Mix-a-lot and Montell Jordan. (If you're interested, we engaged Gamespot Asia in a dance-off on Kinect for Xbox 360. Do keep a lookout for that next week.)A project done by local Temasek Polytechnic students where the Kinect was used in stroke rehabilitation was also demonstrated today. Called the Therapy and Rehabilitation Assistant (TARA), the project won the Microsoft Imagine Cup technology competition in Singapore. The motion-controlled sensor, which was launched a year ago, currently holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest-selling consumer electronics device. 8 million units were sold in 60 days.Since then, the Kinect has done more than bring controller-free gaming to the masses--it's been used for a wide range of purposes including rescue robot control in earthquake operations and light art.
