(CNN) -- Ten soldiers were killed in an attack in Colombia that the army blamed on the guerrilla group Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia.
The attack took place in the municipality of Tame, in northeast Colombia, according to a statement Saturday from the Colombian army. Three other soldiers were injured. No other details were released.
Tame is a municipality in the Colombia's Arauca region. It is near the same area where the 10-year-old daughter of Jorge Enrique Munoz, mayor of the town of Fortul, was kidnapped on September 29.
She had been gone for 19 days, but it was unclear who her captors were.
The girl told reporters that her captors left her on a sidewalk by herself and that local farmers found her and contacted the Red Cross.
The country's two largest guerrilla groups -- FARC and Zapatista Army of National Liberation, or EZLN -- are known to target local leaders such as Munoz, but both groups have denied involvement in the kidnapping.
